Social media giant Facebook said Tuesday it wanted to comply with the provisions of India's new intermediary IT rules, which will go into effect on Wednesday. He continued to discuss issues related to the new guidelines with the government. Companies, Koo, and Facebook that none of the major social media brokers have appointed a resident complaints officer.
Social media platforms can lose their privileges under Section 79 of the IT Act, which states that an intermediary is not responsible for "any third party information, data or communication links provided or hosted by them". US-based social media platforms have grown tremendously in democracies like India thanks to their huge user base and profitable revenue.
However, none of them have shown any inclination to adhere to India's national standards. Instead, social media platforms have refused to make their data verification mechanisms and criteria for tagging tweets transparent.
